Happy Mail and more paper flowers

Hi All,

I wanted to share with you some lovely cards I received in the mail today. I just love getting cards in the mail! so much better then Bills : (

But first I wanted to share my March Flowers. I like to change out the cards and items on my work desk at least once a month. Last month I had items made with the Ginger Blossoms paper on my shelf, but I wanted to do something different for March.

So I switched it out to projects featuring the Berry Bliss paper. I received several beautiful items featuring the paper at a recent Shoebox exchange, so I only needed to add two more things. So here is the card from Sunday's tutorial and a flower pot made out of paper filled with paper flowers. I got the pattern for the flower pot from http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/.

Here is the link:

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326706

I also received happy mail today.... all the way from Australia! I had sold some of my retired items to Sandra (dragaonflydreams) and she sent me the following card, a boomerang magnet and Bling and Pearl Adhesives!! Isn't that the sweetest! I can't wait to play with these.

I also received the cutest Baby shower card from my friends Wendy and Leslie. The card has a flap and opens to the side. Isn't it precious! I love the way it opens and the cute button on the baby onesie

Thanks for stopping by!

Marker Basics - Color Fusion

Happy Sunday all,
Before we get to the marker tutorial, I wanted to show you something exciting and new! In the upcoming Occasions Mini there are these beautiful flower ribbon sliders.
here is a picture of the new hardware kit that is available in the Occassions mini, they have a silver finish. Aren't they beautiful!

I am going to show you how to customize these ribbon sliders using Classic ink refills and crystal effects.

First you will put a drop of the ink refill in the channel of the ribbon slider.

Then add two or three drops of Crystal Effects. You don't want to put so much that it is running over the sides.

using a tooth pick mix the ink with the crystal effects until the color is smooth through out the channel of the ribbon slider.

Let the liquid inside of the channel dry for about 1 hour and then if you had any of the liquid run over the top of the slider, just scratch it off with your nail. And there you go, a cute custome colored slider. I need to try this with craft ink and with glitter. I'll take pictures of the finished product and share them here later on this week.

Now it is time for our tutorial. We will be using Classic ink refills for this as well.

First I stamped my image in the timber brown stazon.

Then i put a drop of reinker (pomengrante) on a image sheet. But you can use a plate or anything plastic.

I touched my regal rose marker to the drop of reinker, picking up just a bit of the color.

I am then able to angle my marker and draw on my image getting a really cool dual color. See on the left is the pomengrante from the reinker and on the inside is the actual marker color, regal rose.
When I am done I can just scribble on some paper to get rid of the left over pomengrante on my marker.
Here is my colored in image. by picking up some of the reinker I am able to get some great shading.
Here is my finished project. I used the berry bliss paper, along with my customized ribbon slider and a rhinestone brad to finish the project off.

Here is a close up of my slider.
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

Don't miss out on the SALE-A-BRATION

Hi All,

Sale-a-bration is up and running, and has been a great success. Everyone is loving the exclusive stamp sets and the rub-ons. I can't get enough of them myself! Remember Sale-a-bration only runs through March 17th, so get your order in today!

Here are a few projects I have done with the So Many Scallops and the rub ons.

I just love how the So Many Scallops set works with the Scallop punch! I can whip out a cut card in just minutes using this set.

Here is a 3x3 card I made using the white rub-ons from Sale-a-bration, and then I decorated a glass jar using the same rub on in black. Notice the shape fits perfectly into the scallop punch!

I hope you have enjoyed these samples. See you soon.

Sale-a-bration Rub Ons

When I got home my new SU Order had arrived! I love to come home to new rubber!!! And although the new stamps are all very yummy, I instantly fell in love with my new Sale-a-bration Rub Ons, "Love & Happiness".

The package contains 4 sheets, white, old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Black.
Well of course I had to get out my new favorite Designer Paper and Play! I needed to make a card and gift for Erick's teacher for Valentines day, so here is what I came up with.
My card is made with a base of Groovy Guava, then a layer of Chocolate Chip then some Ginger Blossom paper. I applied the rub-ons right on top of the designer paper, then added a corner punch with brads. Then I made a bag-a-lope and covered it with the designer paper and more rub ons. I think both items took me about 15 minutes to make. No stamping involved! I'll have to include a bag-a-lope as part of my March Class so I can show you how to make one. They are super easy!

Lastly I wanted to share a card my new Secret Sister sent me. As soon as I saw it I knew she had used the highlighting technique I had shown in this weeks Sunday Tutorial. See on the left of each flower how it is darker then the right. Well she used a marker in a darker color on just one side of the image to make a shadow effect. Nice....

Talk to you later.

Marker Basics - Highligting, and scraps

Hi all!

I had a stamp play date with my friends Jackie and Jenn D. They are both very talented Demonstrators and the projects that they brought to the play date were awesome! Click on Jenn's name to check out her Blog, and the Jackie's project that we made on our play date. Jenn gave me a great suggestion on what to do with my scraps. Here is a picture of my current scrap organization. Just a big ole bin of scraps LOL!

Jenn told me that she keeps her's by color in the 9 x 14 Stampin up clear bags, and labels them with a punch out.
So today I went through my scraps and started to organize my scraps by color. Here is my certainly celery bag.
And here are a group of bags together. I can already see how this is going to help me better maximize my scraps. Thanks Jenn!
Now on to today's tutorial.
Today I will show you how to use markers to apply highlights to your solid Stamps. I'll be using this month's Stamps in the Mail set "Garden Whimsy".

First I stamped the Butterfly stamp with the Groovy Guava Classic Ink pad.
Then I used my Ruby Red Marker to highlight the swirls and circles in the stamp. If the image had been purely soild I would have highlighted the outline of the stamp.
Then I stamp the image. You can clearly see the sections that I used the darker (ruby red color).
Here is a side by side comparison of the same image with the highlights (left) and with just the groovy guava (right). The highlights make the image so much more interesting.

I used my Stampin-ma-jig to stamp my Sentiment "Hugs & Kisses". First I stamp the words on the clear film using the placer to mark the beginning of the film.
Then I place the film on my card and play around with it to figure out the best placement.
Then use my placer to to mark where the film was.
And then stamp my image. Perfect placement every time. The sentiment I am using is for last year's hostess set So Many Sayings, that had several words on each block. I was able to divide the words by ordering additional blocks from www.theblockguy.com He sells additional Wood Blocks for many of the popular Stampin up sets that can be divided into smaller sets. such as the Backgroup stamp "Happiness". Check his website out. He currently has his wood blocks on SALE!
Here is my finished card using the Ginger Blossom designer paper and the Groovy Guava ribbon. I am so in love with this color combination...Groovy guava and Ruby Red!

My funny Valentines

Valentines Day is quickly approaching, and I am in the mood for making Valentines projects.
I wanted to share with you a few of these projects.

All of the projects use my current favorite Stampin up paper, Ginger Blossoms. The colors in this paper are Ruby Red, Groovy Guava, and River Rock.

First up is a Frappucinno bottle that I altered. I used strips of paper and sticky strip around the front of the bottle. I then covered the place where the papers meet with one of the images from the So Many Scallops Sale-a-bration set. In the center of the image I added a Ruby red button.
To decorate the top I punched out a circle of the paper and ran it through my Xyron machine. I also put a strip that is about 1/4 an inch around the top. This would make a great gift, but I will be putting mine on my desk at work so my co-workers can share the M&M's.

Next up is my February Calendar page. I used a picture of my husband and son. I used the River Rock as my base and used a large piece of the Ginger Blossom paper across the bottom. I added some of the Groovy Guava Stitched Ribbon, and punched out flowers with my new Boho Punch and some Quickutz Flowers. A few pearls from the Pretties kit decorate the centers. I found some cheap valentines chipboard at Archivers in the 1.99 spot. Unfortunately the pieces were so thin that it was very difficult for me to file the pieces down without them curving! I have been so spoiled by my Stampin Up chipboard, which is very firm. Oh well, you live a learn.

Lastly, on Sunday I took an Iris Class with some friends. I really loved the technique..even though it takes a while to re-create. I knew immediately that I wanted to make a heart card using the Ginger Blossoms paper. So I rushed home and cut out a heart using my Cricut and used a generic pattern from:

http://www.irisfolding.circleofcrafters.com/makeirisfoldingpatterns.html

All I had to do was lay my design over the Triangle Pattern and follow the numbers. I love how the card came out. I think I will be giving this card to my Mom.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the projects.

Don't forget to sign up for my February Classes!

Marker Basics - Thumping

Hello All,

Before I get to the tutorial I wanted to show you all a little quick 3x3 card I made for My niece. Today is her birthday! She turned 8, time truly flies.

for this card I used the cutie pie paper, purely pomengrante paper and the Garden Whimsy Stamp set. I just added a little White taffeta ribbon and I was all done. The image was punched out with the 1 inch square punch and mounted on a piece of So Saffron punched by the 1 1/4 inch punch.

Today's tutorial uses a technique called thumping. I really like this technique for nature images. For this demonstration I will be using Garden Silhouettes (retired hostess)

First you cover your image with the lightest ink color. In this case I used Mellow Moss.

Then pick some complementry color markers. lightly hold the markers and let them fall randomly on your image. this will leave slashes of color on the image. Repeat the technique with as many colors as you like. I choose Really rust and Close to Cocoa for my two marker colors.

It is hard to see it on this picture of the stamp but there are multiple colors on the stamp now. you can click on the image to have it enlarged to show the details.
When I stamp the image you can see the different colors. The image now has a fallish look. Like leaves changing colors on a tree.
Here is more of a close up of the image. se the parts that are still mellow moss and then there are darker parts with really rust and Close to Cocoa.

I paired my image up with some Really Rust paper and Stampin Ups Western paper from the Fall and Winter Catty.
Enjoy your Sunday!
